Say "hello" to my little friend...

Kitties like having kitty friends, right? Jango has seemed bored for a long time, and Dan and I have kind of been going back and forth for a while now about adopting a new cat. We went to a couple different shelters and found a little boy kitty, who looks almost exactly like Jang. Dan picked him out, and we both fell for him. We brought him home and all hell broke lose. Jango hated him. He hissed and growled and even clawed at him a couple times. After a night of little to no sleep, we made the extremely difficult decision to bring the new kitty back to the humane society. Of course I was bawling.

The humane society we got him from was about a 30 minute drive away so we packed up the little guy in his carrier along with some items we wanted to donate and headed to the shelter. After a long grueling drive with the cat meowing from his carrier and me crying (poor Dan) we get to the shelter only to find out that it was CLOSED!!@@!@!!# I was so upset! What do we do now? If we bring him home the poor kitty is just going to keep getting tortured and Jango is going to stay upset and everything will be terrible! We had no choice though, so we brought the little guy home.

We walked in the door and took the kitty out of his carrier and Jango ran up to him and started sniffing him, and he didn't even hiss, or growl or anything! He was being nice! So now it's a couple days later and the kitties are playing together and "not hating" each other, which is so nice. We decided to give the little guy another chance, and apparently Jango did too. :)

These boots were made for walking...

I'm sure every cat begs to go outside, but I'm sure not every cat begs to go for a walk. We have a little harness for Jango that we make him wear with his leash... he hated it at first, but now he's used to it. There have been times where we open the door and he bolts out and starts walking down the sidewalk, so we figured taking him out once a day would give him his outside fix. Of course he'll eventually lay down after a while, but each time he ventures out further and further.

But seriously, you should see the looks people give us.

Jango's Nest

A couple weeks ago we purchased a kitty...jungle-gym/bunk-bed/playland thing, and it has this little bed at the top of it that Jango likes to sleep in. I referred to it as his nest once, one thing led to another, and these photos were the result of it.

I've been a little late on the whole "blog" scene. I made a weather blog for a weather class, I thought it was cool, but you probably wouldn't unless you're really interested in how the weather was in Eau Claire, WI for 5 months in 2011. I enjoy writing and never really had a good idea for a blog... until now (well... maybe..we'll see). My boyfriend Dan and I adopted an 8 year old cat from the humane society a couple months ago. We walked into the "cat colony room" and visited with all the cats. Finally we saw one flipping out and chasing his tail...."That's the one" we decided. His original name was Sam but we decided to rename him Jango (as in Boba-Fett's dad...duhh), although we still use his real name if he's being a brat, which happens often.

He was the happiest little kitty when we brought him home though, rubbing up against our legs and following us everywhere, head butting our faces, purring constantly, and sleeping with us every night. He's definitely a wonderful and unique addition to our little household. He's also hilarious.  As I write this he is trying to eat his scratching post. Enough said.

Hopefully you'll enjoy our Jango stories and photos as much as we do!
